During our stay in Candidasa, we traveled to Tenganan, a Bali Aga village. Aga means "old" or "original" and this village is more than 600 years old.
The 600 people in the village specialize in the production of ikat, where bundles of yarn are died in a similar manner as batik. Check out the Wikipedia article which gives a fascinating overview of the technique. Tenganan is the only village to make "double ikat." Keng bought some ikat fabric, which she will have made into a dress.
